It seems like every day more one-man bands emerge-most of which aren't unique, or talented. WeatherStar is not part of the majority. During the summer of 2009, Cameron Alexander Francis Walker-Wright (or Cameron Walker for short) decided to play music under the name WeatherStar. The New York City-native was young and ambitious. Despite being unsigned, Walker recorded the WeatherStar EP.
The end result was a fantastic EP. Walker's beautiful and natural, easy voice, accompanied by infectious and moody music make WeatherStar stand out amongst allthe newly-blossomed MySpace bands. WeatherStar has the undeniable appeal of The Morning Light and hopeful yet disheartened lyrics that bear a resemblance to A Rocket to the Moon's Greetings From... EP. Walker set out to promote his music with the help of live band members Matt Livigni (bass/vocals) and Jesse Weyher (drums).
"Wish You Would Stay" is the first single off the EP. The listener is immediately drawn to Walker's beautiful vocalizations and to his the Downtown Fiction-esque style of music. The song is about not wanting someone he loves to leave, knowing that the person is unaware of the impact they have in his life, much like A Rocket to the Moon's song "She's Killing Me." WeatherStar's use of different instruments makes the song memorable and his sound unique.
"Planes, Oceans, and Symphonies" is the only fully-acoustic track off the self-titled EP, one about getting sick of the rain and wanting to run away. Walker's voice is soothing, and conveys to emotion of the song perfectly. Walker is like an open book when he sings. He makesthe listener feel that he has nothing to hide. The track being acoustic only accentuates the fact.
Despite the fact they formed just last year, Walker is sure about his project's sound. WeatherStar's love-lorn pop rock is sure to make an impression on the listener, WeatherStar proves that some people are talented enough to make it on their own.
